Prog-Watch 527

by The Prog Squatch | In Conversation with Colin Blunstone of The Zombies & The Alan Parsons Project

Time Of The Season by The Zombies is one of the first songs I can remember hearing as a child, and that strange beat and smooth, almost ethereal (over an AM radio!) vocal made a lasting impression. So it was with great pleasure that I was actually able to interview the owner of that voice, Mr. Colin Blunstone, a few weeks back! As an original British Invasion artist he had many recollections of those heady days, and also talked about his solo career, and time spent with The Alan Parsons Project and the offshoot band Keats. Tune in to this week’s Prog-Watch to hear some of that interview, and a whole lot of great music by The Zombies, The APP, Keats, Colin alone, and some bloke named Neil MacArthur! (If you don’t know who this is, tune in and find out!)

Colin Edward Michael Blunstone (born 24 June 1945) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. In a career spanning more than 50 years, Blunstone came to prominence in the mid 1960s as the lead singer of the English rock band The Zombies, who scored international hits including “She’s Not There”, “Tell Her No”, “She’s Coming Home”, and “Time of the Season”. Blunstone began his solo career in 1969, releasing three singles under a pseudonym of Neil MacArthur. Since then, he has released ten studio albums and one live album under his real name. He is also known for his participation on various albums with the Alan Parsons Project.
