This week on Prog-Watch I have a bit of a mixed bag! We’ll hear great stuff from the likes of Surreal, Bjørn Riis, In Continuum, and Nad Sylvan, plus Dr. Rob Fisher will be taking a look at the latest Damanek album on Progressive Discoveries! As if that was not enough, I’ll have a mini feature on Nikki Squire and her band Esquire! Nikki has a new track and she and I chatted about that and the future of Esquire!

Damanek – In Flight

Esquire was formed in 1982 by Nikki Squire (at the time married to Chris Squire of Yes) and Nigel McLaren. They released two albums “Esquire” and “Coming Home” before taking a long hiatus. Their third album “No Spare Planet” was released in 2016, and is a fitting tribute to Nigel McLaren, who sadly passed away before its completion and release.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, the spirit of Nigel McLaren continues in the music of Esquire! Some of his musical ideas have been used for a new song Gaia, Mother of Heaven. With this song, Nikki hopes to raise awareness of the ecological and political crises currently facing our planet.
