This week on Prog-Watch I start a great two-part feature on one of prog rock’s Grande Dames, Ms. Sonja Kristina of Curved Air! Tune in to hear some chat and lots of great music from all across her long and illustrious career!
Sonja Kristina (born Sonia Christina Shaw; 14 April 1949 in Brentwood, Essex) is an English songwriter, musician and actress, best known for starring in the seminal 1960s musical Hair, and for being the lead vocalist of the classic progressive rock band Curved Air. Kristina is also an experienced voice coach. She was the Rock, Jazz and Musical Theatre tutor for Performing Arts Students at Middlesex University from 1991 to 1999. After Curved Air initially disbanded in the late 1970s, she pursued a solo career which has produced some quite diverse music. She continues to record and perform with a re-formed version of Curved Air to this day.
