This week Tony is joined by Terry DeLien for a more in-depth look at two interesting bands. First up, US group The Protomen whose concept albums blend Prog Rock and Americana with a dash of Sci-Fi themes! In the second half of the show, it’s one of Prog’s hottest commodities, the Italian band the Barock Project! The guys even have a little Q & A with the band’s main man, Luca Zabbini (keyboardist, guitarist and composer)!

The Protomen are an American rock band best known for composing original concept albums loosely based on the popular video game series Mega Man. They have concocted a dark and dystopian version of the game’s underlying world. The group is generally uninterested in concerns of making their story adhere to the original. Instead, they view the games as a jumping-off point for the story they want to tell, and have borrowed surface attributes of some characters while heavily altering their histories and functions.

The BAROCK PROJECT combines elements of classical music with a rock style and a bit of jazz harmony, supported by a pop framework. Their compositions are complex and symphonic in nature, with memorable melodies and virtuoso musical performances.
