Prog-Watch 531
This week on Prog-Watch I’m shaking the family tree of one of my favorite bands of all time…Jethro Tull! So much great stuff shakes out, including music from Blodwyn Pig, Aviator, solo Ian Anderson, solo Martin Barre, and some real lost gems from the late Glenn Cornick’s Wild Turkey!
So come and see what shakes out!
Jethro Tull are a British rock band formed in Blackpool, Lancashire in 1967. Initially playing blues rock, the band later incorporated elements of hard and folk rock to forge a unique progressive rock signature. The band is led by vocalist/flautist/guitarist Ian Anderson, and has featured many significant members such as guitarists Mick Abrahams and Martin Barre, keyboardist John Evan, drummers Clive Bunker, Barriemore Barlow, and Doane Perry, and bassists Glenn Cornick, Jeffrey Hammond, John Glascock and Dave Pegg.
Music with some meat to it!
Prog-Watch is a weekly podcast and internet radio program dedicated to bringing the listener contemporary Progressive Rock music from around the world. Your big, hairy host, the “Prog-Squatch” wanders the woods of the world, beats the bushes, and digs in the dirt to bring the best Prog back for YOU! Sometimes solo and sometimes with a guest host, the Prog-Squatch will bring you new and interesting artists in each episode, and give you some background info and a taste of their music.
Want More Squatch? Check him out howling into the wild with his own Progressive Rock Band, Novus. Jam some Squatch in those ears! http://novus3.bandcamp.com/releases
I would love to hear a second show on Jethro Tull. They are one of my favorite bands as well. I also would love to hear a show on the excellent guitarist Joe Satriani.
Thanks for your suggestions, Salvatore! I’ll see what I can do!
