On this week’s Prog-Watch my very special guest is the one and only Martin Barre of Jethro Tull fame! Martin and I talk Tull and his solo career, and along the way there is plenty of great music…a few Tull tunes on which Martin really shines, and lots of great music from his solo albums, including a few from his fabulous new album “Roads Less Travelled”!
Martin Lancelot Barre (born 17 November 1946) is an English rock musician best known for his work with progressive rock band Jethro Tull, with whom he recorded and toured from their second album in 1969 to the band’s initial dissolution in 2012. In the early 1990s he initiated a solo career that has now spawned more than a half dozen studio albums plus several guest appearances.
He has also played the flute and other instruments such as the mandolin, both on stage for Jethro Tull and in his own solo work. Most recently, he has released his eighth solo studio album “Roads Less Travelled” and is embarking on a supporting tour. Next year he has planned a “Stand Up America” tour celebrating the anniversary of the US release of the namesake seminal 1969 Jethro Tull album.
