This week on Prog-Watch my special guest is Oliver Rüsing of Karibow! Oliver and I have an interesting (and at times fun) conversation about the making of the spectacular new Karibow album, Monumento! Along the way I also play lots of great Karibow music, including a couple from the new one!

In the 1990s German born multi-instrumentalist, composer, and singer Oliver Rüsing played with multiple projects including Last Turion, Counterparts, Chinook, Maquis, MC West and the Canadian Swell Guys, and many more. Initially, Oliver worked as a live drummer, drum teacher, and studio musician in both Europe and North America. As he progressed through his bands, he picked up multiple influences and styles that would eventually create the foundation that would be Karibow. The end result was an award winning project with strong roots in Progressive Rock, Electronic Music and Album Oriented Rock.

To date Karibow have released eleven studio albums. Over the more recent Karibow albums Oliver has established a pattern of working with many fabulously talented guests from around the progressive rock world. For the latest album, Monumento, that list includes Hayley Griffiths (Karnataka), Joe Cairney (Comedy of Errors), John Young (Lifesigns), Antony Kalugin (Karfagen and Sunchild), and Michel St-Père (Mystery).
