I’m doing another of my band family tree explorations on Prog-Watch this week and my subject is the mighty King Crimson! I’ll be spinning a few classic tunes from the band proper and exploring their roots and branches in the music of Giles, Giles & Fripp, McDonald & Giles, Peter Sinfield, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, David Cross & David Jackson, and more! Come and hear what I shake out of the KC Family Tree!

King Crimson are an English progressive rock band formed in London in 1968. They exploded onto the music scene back in 1969 with their debut album In The Court Of The Crimson King, which many folks consider to be the very first true progressive rock album. Leader Robert Fripp is the only constant in the band, which has seen many line up changes over the 50 plus years of its existence. In fact, more than two dozen musicians have been in the band’s studio and touring line-ups over the years so I won’t be able to touch on everybody in this program, but I can give you an overview of the massive King Crimson family tree!
